Summary + Thesis Draft #1

Summary The XYZ Reality headset was custom-built for the construction industry and intended to help businesses achieve greater levels of productivity, performance, and collaboration (Carter, 2023). According to XYZ Reality’s website (2023), the XYZ Reality Atom augmented reality (AR) goggles are an advanced tool designed to enhance precision, efficiency, and safety in the construction industry. They feature millimeter-accurate 3D model overlays, enabling users to visualize and align BIM designs directly on-site, reducing errors and ensuring projects stay true to specifications. Integrated with Autodesk BIM 360, the goggles allow seamless management of design models, issue tracking, and real-time collaboration among teams (AEC Magazine, 2023). A high-resolution AR display offers a wide field of view for clear and detailed visualizations, while the safety-certified helmet ensures compliance with construction safety standards (Red Dot, 2023). The device also includes offline functio...

Research Pathway

Why did I choose Augmented Reality Goggles: The Atom? I would choose The Atom augmented reality headset because it demonstrates how modern technology can solve real-world problems with precision and efficiency. Its ability to overlay 3D design models with millimeter accuracy in construction projects not only reduces errors but also enhances communication among teams. Additionally, this technology improves safety in the construction industry, as it integrates with VR goggles to provide real-time visualization without compromising protection. Moreover, it saves significant time by reducing the need for frequent on-site visits. The Prompt and Key Features and Functions of The Atom Prompt Used: Give me the key features and functions of the Augmented Reality Goggles, The Atom.  1. Millimeter Accuracy in 3D Model Overlay- This allows users to align and visualize 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) designs directly on-site with unmatched precision, reducing errors and ensuring tha...

How I Used Dewey’s Model to reduce Procrastination

I have been struggling with procrastination, and I applied Dewey's Model of Reflective Thought and Action to explore ways to reduce or overcome this behavior. I deal Situation: To be more productive and complete work on time. Reality (Gap): I easily get distracted by social media and delay getting things done. Causes/Conditions: I frequently lose concentration and start using my phone or focus on less important tasks. Effects/Results: I end up postponing work, which leads to rushing through tasks at the last minute. Goal: The goal is to manage my time better and finish tasks on time instead of procrastinating. Possible Changes: I can create a detailed time management plan where I allocate specific work periods and scheduled breaks. Social media use will be limited to designated break times only. I will remove distractions (e.g., putting my phone in another room) and practice self-control techniques, such as using a timer. Testing the Hypothesis (Solution): Over the next two w...

Subject: Introduction Letter- Aravindha Kumar CVE

Dear Professor Blackstone, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Aravindha Kumar, but you can address me as Aravin. I am currently enrolled in your critical thinking class and writing to introduce myself, share my path into Civil Engineering, and reflect on my strengths and weaknesses. I am a first-year civil engineering student, and my passion for this field began during my secondary school years when I became fascinated with transforming two-dimensional designs into real, remarkable structures. The construction of iconic buildings like the Burj Khalifa sparked my curiosity and motivated me to pursue this career path. I believe Civil Engineering combines creativity, technical expertise, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the built environment. My strengths include being a collaborative team player, demonstrating patience in problem-solving, and embracing creativity. However, I recognize my weaknesses in public speaking and initiating conversations with new people. ...

My thought's on a Quote by Debra Kraft

"While all engineers should have good communication skills, global engineers face additional challenges, making effective communication an imperative" -Debra Kraft, Careers Content Writer, Demand Media (2016) I agree with this quote. On a global scale, communication between engineers presents significant challenges due to language barriers, differences in work culture, and varying rules and requirements. Therefore, when working with engineers from different countries, it is crucial to ask about their processes and methods or conduct some research on their practices. This approach helps to prevent miscommunication and ensures smoother collaboration.
